Overview

Since 1962, the five-star Parsian Esteghlal International Hotel, which was first named as the Tehran Royal Hilton Hotel, has been hosting countless guests, events, and seminars. Situated in the vicinity of the Alborz Mountain Ranges, the twin West & East Towers guests have access to some of Tehran’s most frequently-visited spots as well as an unobstructed perspective of the whole city.

The 70,000 square-meter property was designed by Heydar Ghiai, who was known as a pioneer of modern architecture in Iran and noted British architect Raglan Squire, who designed Hilton hotels. The 70,000 square-meter property used to be a first-of-its-kind hotel in the Middle East, both in scale and magnitude. Fascinating with the early morning sunrise accompanied by a cool gentle breeze, the complex features two buildings with 504 mountain and city-facing rooms; 48 junior and royal suites; and the pillar-free Darya-e-Noor Hall with a capacity of 850 guests.

The Parsian Esteghlal Hotel offers a full range of amenities, such as the Rose Restaurant with its red-rose-colored theme and the outdoor Kazbar Restaurant and coffee shop beside the garden and outdoor pool. In addition to the Darya-e-Noor Hall, the complex hosts events in 3 other halls, including the nostalgic Neauphle le Chateau with its French theme, Yas 1 with granite tiles on its columns and floor, and Yas 2 with its L-shaped design proper for seminars. Guests can also enjoy the spa, with an indoor pool, sauna, and Jacuzzi, as well as a fitness center, a shopping center selling attractive souvenirs, and a barbershop. To add relish to the business guest’s stay, the hotel has a business center in its lobby, which is an appropriate place for business talks with its fragrant smell of coffee. Walk toward Attar Neyshaburi Tomb, a Persian poet, theoretician of Sufism, and hagiographer who had a huge influence on Persian poetry and Sufism. After breakfast, drive toward Shahroud to visit the tomb of Abu al-Hassan Kharaqani, one of the master Sufis of Islam and the teacher of great Persian scholars such as Avicenna and Mahmud of Ghazni. Next, visit Bayazid Bastami Tomb, a controversial Persian Sufi with Zoroastrian roots who converted to Islam and reached one of the highest levels of Sufism. Drive toward Semnan. First, delve into the history by getting into the oldest part of Seman, Tepe Hissar, featuring an uninterrupted occupational history from the 5th to the 2nd millennium BCE. Next, visit Wall Barrow, a large wall built to protect the city from invaders. Then, visit Damghan Tarikhaneh Mosque, the second oldest mosque in Iran, which used to be a fire temple before Islam. In the morning, head to Chehel Sotun Palace, built by Tahmasp I Safavid for his residence as the second capital of Persia in the Safavid Era. The palace is decorated with colorful stain glasses and stucco. Enjoy a leisurely walk in the Safavieh Garden & Historical Complex. Pass Ali Qapu to enter the first street of Iran, Sepah Street. Continue walking to the Tomb of the Four Prophets, a burial of Jewish prophets: Sahuli, Salam, Alqia, and Saloum. They are said to be the prophets who brought the news of the birth of Christ from Jerusalem to the East. Head to visit Sardar Bozorg Cistern, the greatest water reservoir in the east of Iran. Then take a walk in Aminiha Hosseiniyeh, a Persian house-style ornamented with colorful glasses, subtle woodwork, and stunning stucco design. After lunch, drive toward Zanjan. Visit the only Chinese temple in Iran, built in the early 14th century. Dashkasan Dragon Temple is decorated with two raised dragons and some Islamic Mihrabs on two sides of it. Our next stop is the Dome of Soltaniyeh (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the third largest dome in the world after the domes of Florence Cathedral and Hagia Sophia. Drive toward Takab. Spend the day discovering the symbolic and spiritual significance of fire and water in the archaeological ensemble of Takht-e Soleyman, aka Azar Goshnasp Fire Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Built during the Sassanid Empire, the fire temple is an exclusive home for “Kings’ Warriors” to bow before the holy fire and make sacrifice to the Persian goddess of water and rain, Anahita. Before entering into this main sanctuary, which is the foremost religious architecture in Zoroastrianism, take a walk around the fortified oval lake to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the valley. Next, climb up the zig-zag pathway toward the conical peak known by locals as Zendan-e Soleyman (Solomon’s Prison), where sacrifices were made by religious leaders of Mannaeans, dating back to the 1st millennium B.C. Stay in a local eco-lodge in Takab. Drive toward Kandovan village, the exotic conical houses carved into the mountain. O/N in Kandovan.

Drive toward Tabriz, the first capital of the Safavid Dynasty. Take a light walking tour of the Tabriz Historic Bazaar Complex (UNESCO World Heritage Site), where a series of interconnected, covered, brick structures and buildings are joined to each other to form the largest covered traditional bazaar in the world. Next, visit the Blue Mosque, known as the Turquoise of Islam for its turquoise-colored exterior and interior. Built by the order of Jahan Shah, the ruler of Kara Koyunlu in the 15th century, the mosque displays Kufic and Thulth scripts, exquisite arabesque patterns, and admirable choramatic facade compositions. Our next visiting place is the Constitution House of Tabriz, where prominent figures such as Sattar Khan fought for the Persian Constitutional Revolution during the Qajar Dynasty. The house displays the sculptures of famous Iranian constitution revolutionaries and their personal belongings, such as weapons, underground published newspapers, and letters. Drive to Hamadan for sightseeing. In Hamadan, we will visit Ester and Mordkhay tombs (Jewish holy shrines), Alaviyan dome, and Hegmataneh hill. O/N Hamedan.

Excursion to Kermanshah for the day; en route, see the Anahita Temple at Kangavar, the Achaemenian inscriptions and reliefs at Bisotoun, and the Sassanian rock-relifs at Tagh-e-Bostan; then return to hotel O/N Hamadan.

Drive to Isfahan. En-route, visit Fin Garden, Sialk Hill, and Boroujerdi House in Kashan. O/N Isfahan.

In the morning we will visit Imam Square, the huge open square in the center of Isfahan with four monuments on four sides, including the Imam mosque, covered inside and outside with intricate turquoise tiles; the smaller Sheikh Lotfollah mosque contains some of the best mosaics from the 17th century; Ali Ghapoo Palace, which was the first skyscraper in Iran; and Isfahan Bazaar, where you can visit the workshop of artists who paint miniatures, sometimes on bone. In the afternoon, we will visit Si-o-Se Pol (thirty three) and Khajoo Bridges over Zayanderud, relax in one of the traditional tea houses, drink tea and smoke Persian water pipes. O/N Isfahan.

Arrival at Tehran airport, transfer to sightseeing in Tehran.

We will visit the Archaeological & Islamic Art Museum, the finest museum in Iran, where you’ll view a collection of ancient Persian civilization. Then we will visit Golestan Palace (a world heritage site). In the evening, fly to Shiraz, transfer to the hotel, and rest. O/N Shiraz.

In the morning, we will explore on foot this ancient city. This is an opportunity to learn about Zoroastrianism, the Persian religion before the Arabs introduced Islam to Iran.
